We spend our lives expressing ourselves in different ways. Sometimes words cannot describe how we feel or what we want to say. There are so many ways to communicate and express yourself, I have found that when you try to suppress this or aren't completely connected to your truth that it just comes out in other ways.
Style and clothes are your first impression, whether we like it or not what we wear says a lot about who we are or who we want to be. Then there's your creative expression or that inner voice that is sometimes hard to hear or is sometimes screaming in your ear. Finding ways to express this has been so important in my life but it has taken different forms at different times. When I started to paint again I found everything in my life was calmer, I could paint for hours on end and not realise that time had passed.
Roald Dahl said "if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely" I also believe that when you're creating and connecting with what you truly desire that it shines out of you and creates a beautiful energy.
We tend to label people "creatives" and "non-creatives" but everyone has the capability in one way or another, we just need to learn to listen to our inner voice and not be discouraged by others.
You don't have to be a successful artist, the best singer, or novelist to be creative. Most of us get told we're not good at something so we don't do it anymore, but if you're curious or interested in something you should see where it leads you. Try a dance class, pottery class, join an amateur choir, throw some paint around or sit in the park and draw what you see. We've all become obsessed (myself included) with the hustle and being busy, doing something just because you enjoy it is what life is really about.
"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have" - Oscar Wilde.
Creativity is a muscle, if you don't use it it deteriorates, keep using it and it becomes stronger.
